The Absent American

I thought about Orson Scott Card the other day, for the first time in a long while. After 9/11 and during the run-up to the Iraq war, his column was a must-read for anti-jihadists like me. Now that the fury of the early Aughties has dissipated, under the weight of the events since then, I've gone back to The Ornery American to look around. He's still posting, his "weekly" column appearing very irregularly now, every few months. The "guest essays" section has had no fresh meat for more than two years. A community carries on, behind the registration wall in the forum, looks like The Ornery American is now just another mostly dead pundit farm.
